Following on from my BA in Journalism and an MA in Digital Media, I have spent the last few years working within marketing, media and communications, with a focus on content creation and digital strategy.
During this period I have worked with brands and individuals to develop their online presence and digital content, as well as their marketing and communications strategies and campaigns. I have also tried my hand as a podcast producer, briefly even acting as a host, and have worked closely with designers and creative directors to lead website design projects, video projects and photo shoots. As a freelance writer and former finance journalist, I have also produced editorial content and copy for blogs, websites and op-eds. And for kicks, I’m giving novel writing a go.
Throughout my career I have pitched and implemented digital communications strategies for clients, sourced and created written and visual content for clients’ online platforms, and managed various social media accounts. I have grown brands’ online audiences and undertaken community management on their behalf, as well creating content strategies and calendars. Though not a designer, I do know my way around Photoshop and have also edited video and audio content for clients. One of the benefits of having worked in the digital marketing sphere for several years is gaining a thorough understanding of SEO, paid ads, analytics and web development, and how these may be used to generate traffic and conversions. When I’m not developing digital and social strategy and content on a professional level, I’m either commentating on it or finding new and inventive ways to put off finishing that novel I mentioned earlier. This usually involves writing a new blog.
